Muttaqi, Iranian FM Discuss Afghan Refugees, Gaza Crisis in Key Call

Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Sayyed Abbas Araghchi, focusing on the deportation of Afghan refugees, bilateral relations, and the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

During the call, Muttaqi emphasized the urgent need for a gradual, dignified, and humane repatriation process for Afghan refugees residing in Iran. He also expressed grave concern over the situation in Gaza, describing it as critical, and urged Islamic nations to take collective and decisive action to halt Israeli atrocities.

In response, Foreign Minister Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of Afghan refugees. He further proposed convening a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to coordinate efforts and responses to the worsening crisis in Gaza.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continued cooperation and dialogue to address shared humanitarian and regional challenges.
