The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with John Illiff, the newly appointed head of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Mr. Muttaqi expressed gratitude for the organization’s continued support and stressed the importance of expanding focus beyond emergency humanitarian aid to include long-term development initiatives.
John Illiff, in turn, praised the current security situation in Afghanistan, describing it as favorable for the effective implementation of WFP operations. He also commended the Islamic Emirate’s support for returning refugees and assured that the organization would increase its assistance in this area.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing cooperation, addressing challenges, and ensuring the delivery of effective aid to those in need.
