Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, met with Roza Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, along with her accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Mr. Hanafi stressed the need for increased support to Afghan refugees and reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to serving them. He urged international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in safeguarding refugee rights and providing essential assistance.
Roza Otunbayeva noted that the United Nations has held several meetings aimed at halting the deportation of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries and expressed hope for positive outcomes.
Additionally, the UNHCR representative present at the meeting announced the allocation of $10 million in cash assistance to support Afghan refugees.
