Alhaj Lieutenant General Mullah Abdul Haq Akhund Hamkar, Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics at the Ministry of Interior, met with Bo Mathiasen, Chief of Operations at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, and Polik Ok Serei, UNODC Country Representative for Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Hamkar emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation in key areas, including alternative livelihoods, drug addiction treatment, and the collection and rehabilitation of drug users in Afghanistan.
In response, UNODC officials reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration and pledged ongoing support for Afghanistan’s counter-narcotics efforts across these vital sectors.
