Today in afternoon, Honorable Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met with Hans Johannes, Head of the International Organization ACTED, at his office and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for mutual cooperation.
During the meeting, Honorable Alhaj Turabi Sahb highlighted the necessity of preparedness and timely response to potential disasters, calling for effective coordination among responsible institutions to address the needs of affected communities.
He emphasized the importance of implementing aid programs efficiently, transparently and swiftly, noting that inter-institutional cooperation is vital for the success of these projects. Additionally, he stressed the need to reduce administrative costs of projects while affirming that necessary facilities have been provided for partner organizations.
Concurrently, Mr. Hans Johannes, Head of ACTED, expressed gratitude for the cooperative and supportive approach of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority’s leadership toward humanitarian organizations. While outlining the details of the ongoing project, he assured that the program would be implemented with full transparency and in the shortest possible time.
It is noteworthy that, at the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding valued at a total of six hundred seventy-three thousand five hundred three dollars ($673,503) was signed between the two parties. Under this MoU, ACTED will undertake the following activities:
1. Distribution of $150 in cash to each of 1,100 affected families in the districts of Shahr-e-Buzurg, Tashkan, and Kishim in Badakhshan province. An additional $30 will be provided to families without a breadwinner.
2. Support for 1,326 individuals affected by drought, establishment of 9 public awareness centers, creation of 8 child-focused awareness centers, and distribution of 1,800 hygiene kits, each valued at $27. These activities will take place in the districts of Shahr-e-Buzurg and Tashkan in Badakhshan province; Chal, Bangi, and Ishkamish in Takhar province; Sancharak and Gosfandi in Sar-e-Pul province; and Gurziwan and Dawlatabad in Faryab province.
3. Rehabilitation of four inactive water supply networks in drought-affected areas of Badakhshan province and distribution of 580 hygiene kits, each valued at $64.
