The Ministry of Public Health announced that it organized a public awareness session on mother’s milk feeding.
The session was attended by Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister for Health Services at the Ministry of Public Health, along with a number of central directors, representatives of international partner organizations, and members of the media.
Addressing the session, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani said that mother’s milk feeding lays the foundation for a healthy society. He added that mother’s milk serves as a vital and powerful natural vaccine, playing a fundamental role in preventing infectious diseases, diarrhea, and malnutrition, while strengthening the immune system.
The deputy minister further stated that the Ministry of Public Health has intensified its efforts to expand and strengthen communicable disease prevention and public nutrition programs to safeguard public health and prevent the spread of diseases across the country.
Meanwhile, Dr. Haidar Khan Haidar, Director General of Preventive Medicine, briefed participants on the activities of the directorate, emphasized the importance of strengthening preventive measures, and described mother’s milk feeding as essential to protecting the health of both mothers and children.
Similarly, Dr. Hikmatullah Masoumi, Director of Public Nutrition, said that mother’s milk is not merely a source of nutrition, but also plays a fundamental role in safeguarding the health of mothers and children, while contributing to the country’s economic development and social well-being.
It is worth mentioning that, at the conclusion of the session, Dr. Sharafat Zaman, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health, presented the ministry’s statement on public nutrition.
