United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, has urged the international community to take concrete steps to halt what she described as an ongoing “genocide” in Gaza.
Speaking at a high-level conference in Bogotá, Colombia, attended by representatives from 30 countries—including Spain, Ireland, and China—Albanese emphasized the urgent need for action against Israel’s military campaign in the besieged enclave.
“Every state must immediately review and suspend all ties with the State of Israel and ensure its private sector follows suit,” she said. “Israel’s economy is structurally intertwined with the occupation, which has now escalated into a genocidal campaign.”
The meeting focused on strategies to confront Israel’s actions in Gaza and to build coordinated global pressure for an end to the violence.
Israel has vehemently denied all accusations of genocide, dismissing them as anti-Semitic “blood libel.”
